GWAPOINTS rates the Apple iPhone 3G

Last March, I rated the Apple iPhone and gave it 3 Gwapoints. Me being a very geeky person, I expected more from a mobile device. The iPhone (2G) had almost everything else, but the basics, hmmm.. not quite.

It's like buying a Nokia phone to find that it does not have SMS Capabilities. The iPhone has Bluetooth but not the functionality of file transfer via bluetooth. (aaaargh!) So I decided to wait for a while and see if Apple will release something to make up for the mistake I'd like to call iPhone.

July 11, 2008, Steve Jobs decided to give everybody a big *sigh* and released the iPhone 3G. It's basically an iPhone with the capability to connect to the Internet via a 3G network.

Hehehehe.. nah.. it has a little more features than that.

It has GPS, Wi-Fi (as a standard) BUT NO FREAKIN' BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER AND MMS.

The nice thing about the iPhone OS, though, is that all it needs is an APP and a certain feature will be activated. I wonder how long will it take before Apple realizes that people, in general, are social people and the little things that they take for granted can ultimately be the things that can put them down.

It is obviously a fad because shortly after it's release, Palm came up with the Palm Treo Pro (a different review altogether)

I held one of the 3G units owned by a friend and it is true what Steve Jobs said, about it feeling great in the hand. Because compared to the iPhone 2G, the iPhone 3G feels heavier and fits more comfortably on your hand.

Other than the looks and feel of the unit, with the missing basic functions, I'd not give it 3 Gwapoints, but 4 GWAPOINTS. Work harder, Apple. You have a good product, it just needs to be reviewed by people who actually use mobile phones.
